LE SITE ARCHÉOLOGIQUE DE CAMBOUS
Originally buried under a heap of stones, Cambous village, which dates from the Copper Age, has been the subject of many archaeological excavations. Visitors will see the foundations of a dry stone habitat and the reconstruction of a hut of that time.
Animations and visits are held throughout the year on site: 'Les printemps de la préhistoire' (The Spring of Prehistory) in May or June, ‘Les Journées du Patrimoine’(Heritage Days) in September.
Find out more from the Languedoc Society of Prehistory.
To visit this exceptional prehistoric site, park in Viols en Laval on the D113 in the car park opposite the castle. Walk for a quarter of an hour after you have passed the town hall (mairie).
