Return to the farm
Do you have children?
You'll recognise the following...: Summary of a pleasant day punctuated by my son's questions!
Welcome to the farm
"Mum, where are we going?"
"We're going to Lutin Jardin my dear, you'll see, it's a place where they grow vegetables and there are even animals!"
The welcome is warm, with open arms, on the grounds of this farm that we visit for about 1 hour and a half. We first walk through the fruit trees, before walking along a sunny plot. The fresh air of a shady corner invites us: we stop and rest not far from the water's edge...
"Mummy, what's that river?"
The Lez flows there, and it is thanks to it that Lutin Jardin irrigates itself. Attentive to the quality of his produce, Yézid conveys through his speech his sensitivity to the quality of the soil, the consumption of water, the taste and nutrients of his vegetables...
Passionate and fascinating, he provides all the explanations on the transition to organic farming. This character touches me as much as his story and makes me want to follow him in the adventure...
"Look over there! Chickens!"
The farm reveals its surprises as it goes along: the free-range egg production hints at the care Yezid wants to take with "eating well". The hens live in a palace! An incredible space to roam in the open air and a hell of a house to lay their eggs out of sight...
We learn the difference between an industrial egg and an egg with a 0FR tattoo. Convinced that our food must be better and more responsible, we continue our walk.
"Bêêêh, why is he calling his dog? Is he going to eat the sheep?"
We are given a small demonstration of the training of Nori, the shepherd who obeys Yézid's voice to guide the sheep! An impressive exchange, almost silent, between the dog and his master and yet, an unparalleled complicity between the two is immediately apparent. It is a team work that takes several years to complete...
"Mummy... I'm a bit hungry..."
Snack time is approaching and so is the "shop" tent!
The perfect moment to shop with a light mind.
All the products presented are either from the farm or from the local producers. There is the collector's olive oil, only 150 bottles of which have been produced, and the delicious tomato coulis and its flamboyant colour...
An afternoon where we became aware of the need to protect our land and to promote these passionate and exciting producers. An afternoon of exchange and discovery of a place a little out of time...
