Olive growing in Pic Saint-Loup

Domaine de l'Oulivie 1

Olive oil

Olive trees as far as the eye can see, lined up in the plains of the Grand Pic Saint-Loup and surrounded by fragrant scrubland...

An epinal picture symbolizing the South, the sun and good health.

The olive and the oil extracted from it are produced in Grand Pic Saint-Loup on century-old estates that promise beautiful walks. Lucques, Picholine, tapenades, vinegars or oils of different varieties, fruits of the work of men and the richness of the land, will delight the palates of the whole family.

Short story....

Olive oil has a very ancient history! As proof, the olive tree is the first tree mentioned in the Bible. This oil is so famous that we owe the etymology of oils to it. Indeed, the term "Olea", designating oil in general, originates from the word "olive" (the fruit). As for the geographical roots of the olive tree, botanists are not unanimous. Some believe it originated in Asia after passing through Egypt, to finally conquer the entire Mediterranean region.

Did you know ?

Little anecdote, olive oil was already known for its myorelaxant properties (muscle relaxation). Indeed, the Greek athletes happily rubbed oil all over their bodies to avoid the nasty muscle tears during the Olympic Games of antiquity.
