Conference: The Case of Hannibal's Path
In the footsteps of Hannibal, relive the incredible crossing of the Alps and discover the ancient roads that still bear witness to this epic.
Exactly 2,244 years ago, Hannibal's army set out towards the Rhône to reach the Alps. After an account of the character Hannibal Barca, the author will narrate this epic and raise the enigma of the crossing of the alpine massif, particularly thanks to the determination of the two crossing points of the Rhône. The ancient roads must be preserved as heritage. Hannibal's itinerary presents several sections that are still visitable and very evocative, especially in Queyras, on the cornice of the Furfande circus. One can notably glimpse the use of wood for the construction of the road, reminiscent of the murus gallicus. This conference also aims to rekindle our perspective on these very ancient paths.
