Are you interested in learning flint knapping and prehistoric basketry techniques? Join two workshops:
- Flint Knapping Workshop, led by Jean Brot (€60 per day)
The flint tool is a cultural marker, it is one of the vectors of human development, it reflects the ability to innovate and solve problems.
The service offered at the Cambous site is particularly aimed at archaeology students, but also at anyone wishing to acquire knowledge about stone knapping. During this day we will address the basic principles regarding bifacial shaping, laminar flaking, retouching, and pressure flaking.
- Rustic Basketry Workshop, led by Martine Cazalès (€60 per day)
We haven't invented anything! Humans have always woven, crafted with the materials they had at their disposal. A few rudimentary tools are necessary for this practice, making it very easy to implement and requiring only a little experience and a lot of practice.
During this workshop, we will learn the basic gestures of basketry and we will be able to create small useful or useless objects just for the pleasure of handling the material, transforming it, weaving it with the same gestures as the villagers of Cambous: Baskets, bags, belts, satchels, decorative objects.
