The Château de Viviourès

About 25 km north-northwest of Montpellier, beyond the Pic Saint-Loup, the Hortus massif rises between Valflaunès and Saint-Martin-de-Londres, in a landscape of fields, woods, and garrigue. Its high limestone cliffs reach an elevation of 512 meters and dominate a remarkable natural environment.

The castle occupies a spectacular position on the southern crest, overlooking the valley that separates it from the Pic Saint-Loup by about 200 meters, offering a breathtaking view of the Hortus plateau.

Warning: the walk to the ruins of the castle takes private and unmarked paths. It is therefore dangerous and done under the full responsibility of the hikers.
