Pic Saint-Loup from Saint-Mathieu-de-Tréviers without a car
Reach the summit of Pic Saint-Loup from the village of Saint-Mathieu-de-Tréviers!
- From the “Garonne” bus stop, continue straight ahead along Avenue des Coteaux de Montferrand towards Château de Montferrand and Pic Saint-Loup.
- Continue straight ahead throughout (follow the “Sentier du Pic St Loup” and “Château de Montferrand” signs).
- At the end of the street, take the small pedestrian path that climbs towards the upper part of the village (steps). You will pass through a grove of hundred-year-old oak trees.
- At the top of this path (Chemin des morts), turn right onto Chemin de la fontaine, then turn left onto Rue des placettes and, at the fork, take the right-hand path (still Rue des placettes). There is a bench and a non-drinking water point on your left.
- You can now follow the Yellow and Red waymarkers (GRP) or the White and Red waymarkers (GR60).
- Turn right onto “Cami de Lou Castellas”, then turn left (follow the “Château de Montferrand” and “Pic St Loup” signs).
- Follow this path to the end (it climbs slightly). You can admire Château de Montferrand on your right.
- At the end of the path, do not go through the gate leading to the “L’Héritage du Pic Saint Loup” wine estate; instead, continue to the right along the track unsuitable for vehicles (signs for “Château de Montferrand” and “Pic St Loup”).
- You have reached the car park at the start of the walk.
- Take the path climbing to the left of the information panel and begin the ascent to Pic Saint-Loup.
You can also take a 20-minute return detour to climb up to Château de Montferrand.
