The Source of the Lez

La Source du Lez © Zoomer

The source of the Lez gives rise to a river of 28.5 km that crosses several municipalities before joining the Mediterranean at Palavas-les-Flots. A true jewel of biodiversity, this Natura 2000 classified site is home to remarkable aquatic fauna, including the very rare Lez Gudgeon, an endemic species that can be found nowhere else.

In the summer, swimming is allowed, provided that this fragile natural environment and the species that live there are respected. To preserve this sensitive natural site, dogs are only allowed if kept on a leash. Note: in case of the presence of cyanobacteria, access to the site may be temporarily prohibited for humans as well as dogs.
