From Australia to Hérault, Marjorie Monin followed her intuition and passion for plants to create roll-ons with natural essences, designed as true allies of well-being on a daily basis.
Can you tell us about your journey and what led you to create this activity ?
I lived for a few years in Australia and then in London where I was able to be trained in aromatherapy and flower essences. A true revelation for me, I quickly became interested in natural medicines like Ayurveda and naturopathy, which consider the whole person, and I continue to train in Montpellier. Plants and flowers have always fascinated me because I find it amazing to see how nature offers us so many remedies !
How did the idea of creating roll-ons come about ?
My return to France coincided perfectly with the first lockdown in 2020, and I quickly got into the habit of going to bed very late. I wanted to regain a rhythm by using my knowledge of essential oils, and since I was already using roll-ons in London, it was natural for me to have the idea of creating my own blends !
Where does your connection with plants and artisanal care come from ?
Being originally from Grasse, I have visited many perfume museums and seen flower exhibitions. Integrating plants into a natural care seemed obvious to me to benefit from both a beautiful visual and the benefits of nature.
How does the creation of a roll-on go, from the first idea to the final product ?
I first selected four synergies from my many ideas based on the virtues that could correspond to a maximum of people: aid for sleep, energy boost, menstrual and joint pains, and immune defenses. I then tested many blends of essential oils, relying on my knowledge and my aromatherapy books. The olfactory aspect is very important, I sought to bring harmony between each essential oil. I really like lithotherapy, which is why I included stones based on their properties but also their colors.
I did extensive research for six months to understand the rules of cosmetic products, find a laboratory, and all my suppliers. Finally, I went to meet plant producers in Hérault because it was obvious to me to collaborate with local professionals. Each flower or plant is chosen for its beauty and virtues as my bottles are transparent to showcase them. Everything is then made in a laboratory in Teyran.
How do you choose the plants and the combinations: rather by intuition, by experience, or through tests ?
I would say it is mostly by intuition, and I then validate my work through in-depth research !
Is there a manufacturing step that you prefer ? Why ?
I love the creative phase where the field of possibilities is endless ! It’s the phase where I decide which synergy to create, its virtues, and the flowers that will highlight the bottle.
What message or intention do you want to convey through your creations ?
Nature has much to offer us, and natural medicines like aromatherapy can be real allies in everyday life if you know how to use them. This is why I chose to create roll-ons, because many people do not know how to use essential oils correctly, which should be handled with great care. My bottles are ready-to-use blends that are safe because validated by a toxicologist !
Why is making everything by hand so important to you ?
Because the intention I put into each bottle is important, just like respecting each plant that I meticulously select !
What is today the greatest difficulty, or on the contrary the most beautiful learning, of your profession ?
By starting my research and seeing the validation costs and the cosmetic rules to respect, I felt like a mountain was standing before me, unattainable. And yet, as I moved forward step by step, I understood that everything was possible and that I had the resources within me to reach my goal. Today my creations are sold in more than 30 shops, institutes, and clinics in France ! Following one's intuition and trusting oneself is essential to achieve one's dreams !
