Château La Roque
Château La Roque is an emblematic historical vineyard nestled in the heart of the Pic Saint-Loup appellation, in Fontanès, north of Montpellier. Stretching over nearly 80 hectares, including about 32 hectares of terraced vineyards, the estate offers an exceptional landscape: a natural amphitheater facing south / southeast, carved into the garrigue on a clay-limestone debris terroir.
The remnants of a feudal castle bear witness to a rich and ancient history, and the property stands out for its commitment to biodynamic viticulture, aiming to express the minerality and character of its terroir as accurately as possible.
Grapes & cuvées :
The red and rosé wines are mainly made from Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre.
For white wines: Viognier, Rolle (Vermentino), Roussanne, Bourboulenc, Assyrtiko, and Malvoisie.
Among the flagship cuvées: “La Cupa”, a powerful red of Syrah and Mourvèdre, regularly praised by the specialized press.
Wine tourism approach:
The estate offers guided tours and tastings, as well as ampelographic walks in the garrigue around the vineyards, to discover the history, geology, and biodiversity of La Roque.
In short, Château La Roque is:
- A strong sense of terroir, between rock, nature, and Mediterranean vegetation,
- An environmentally friendly production thanks to biodynamics,
- A remarkable heritage story,
- A complete range (red, rosé, white) that appeals to both amateurs and professionals.
