Lionel Schwartz takes you on a ride on the mountain bike and cycling trails to explore the pathways that traverse the Grand Pic Saint-Loup. In the heart of the vineyards for extraordinary rides and tastings.
Who are you and how long have you been a guide?
After a professional career in the arts and culture sector, I wanted, passionate about cycling, to become a guide/cycling instructor and obtained a professional cycling diploma in 2020.
Why did you choose the Pic Saint-Loup area?
I moved to the Pic Saint-Loup area to live daily in a space that combines both a still protected nature and quality vineyards producing very well-crafted organic wines.
What do you offer in the area?
I offer scenic electric bike rides throughout the Grand Pic Saint Loup area. The principle is to ride starting from a vineyard through paths and wine trails to discover garrigues, Aleppo pine forests, Languedoc farms surrounded by typical Pic vineyards, and then enjoy tastings at the end of the journey in a heritage cellar.
What do you love most about your job when you guide cyclists, mountain bikers...?
What I love most, during these rides, is allowing groups of friends or families to share a unique experience on a bike made easier by the use of electric bikes and to meet in a friendly atmosphere around the wines of the Pic.
What is your most beautiful memory as a guide?
My most beautiful memory is the view shared with the group at the start of a ride early in the morning from the Lancyre estate when the mist is still hovering over the vineyard that extends below the estate and the first rays of sunlight break through; the view is stunning.
What is your favorite spot in the area?
I really enjoy the atmosphere around the Chateau Laroque estate, wooded hills, vineyards on slopes amidst Aleppo pines on both limestone and clay soil, olive groves and cypress trees give this area a strong uniqueness; Tuscany is not far away.
