Glass Hall - Pic Saint-Loup

Unique in France, the Glass Hall is a museum that traces the history of glass and its techniques from antiquity to the present day in the Mediterranean, nearly 4,000 years of a singular craftsmanship.

A unique place in France

Rock crystal, transparency, opacity, red, blue, floral inlays, purity, and chromatic games, the Glass Hall of Claret is a jewel of light dedicated to glass. Set in the former art glassworks, this interpretation center offers the entire universe of glass through history in three spaces.

A permanent collection on the history of glass in the Mediterranean from Antiquity to the present day, a workshop where you can observe a glassmaker at work, and a temporary exhibition on contemporary creations. Wonder guaranteed for all ages.

A place of art and history

True link between tradition and modernity, art and craftsmanship, the Glass Hall celebrates a fascinating material through its play of light and transparency, and its dimension that is both ordinary and highly symbolic.

Created with the help of scientists and archaeologists, its museum content retraces the history of glass and its development in the Mediterranean basin during antiquity (from the 5th century BC to the 5th century AD), as well as the more local history of the glassmaking gentlemen of the Causse de l'Hortus.

"Glassmaker's Workshop" — glass blowing demonstration by Guillaume Domise

In his workshop at the heart of the Glass Hall, glassmaker Guillaume Domise introduces you to the technique of glass filament production, known as « at the flame » (or lamp). Demonstrations take place occasionally (see the schedule in Practical Info). The pieces made during public demonstrations are available for sale at the art shop.

Since glass shaping is subject to unpredictable technical constraints, it is advisable to contact us before your visit.

In the absence of animation, an audiovisual presentation invites you to experience the atmosphere of the workshop and discover the composition of this material, the tools used to shape it, and the secrets of its colors.
