Guzargues, a town since 922 under the name of villa Agucianicis, is a village with a rich historical past.
Given to the church of Maguelone in 990, it developed in the Middle Ages around a fortified castrum, whose layout still influences the heart of the current village. The Saint-Michel church, built in the 12th century, is the main witness, illustrating the religious and defensive importance of the place at that time.

Guzargues has been renowned for its vines for centuries! It is said that in the 19th century, a winemaker from the village invented a handmade method to protect his vines from frost by covering them with smoke from burnt branches — a practice so effective that it was adopted throughout the canton. Even today, viticulture is an integral part of Guzargues's identity and its landscape.
